Frequently Asked Apprenticeship Intake Questions

Complete the Local 303 online application process where you will upload your resume and transcripts as well as complete an online aptitude test. Resumes will no longer be accepted in person at the office.

Applicants must reside in the Niagara region and have a secondary school degree with successful completion of a senior level tech math course (or an equivalent related post secondary course in lieu of). Senior level secondary school English and physics courses are recommended but not mandatory at this time.

An equivalent course would be any post secondary electrical related course such as electrical techniques, electrical engineering, electrical co-op, etc. (these programs contain a math component which relates to the trades).

No. All applications must be done through the Local 303 website.

No. All applicants will be notified if successful for the current intake. Successful candidates will be invited to the interview phase of the intake procedure.

Yes. All unsuccessful applications will be kept on file for the calendar year and may be reviewed at later intakes if labour demands increase. It is not recommended to apply more than once in a calendar year.

This 18 week program (6 week in-class training, 12 weeks in the field with a signatory IBEW contractor) will prepare potential candidates for apprenticeship positions. Upon completion with favourable reviews, the participants will be offered an apprenticeship as a registered 309a apprentice with Local 303.

Local 303 will be offering a summer 2023 and a winter 2023 intake to a limited number of applicants.

The 6 week in class portion is non-paid training but the 12 week training in the field with an IBEW signatory contractor will be a paid position.
